fonts-lato software package provides sans-serif typeface family font, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install fonts-lato
fonts-lato is installed in your system.
Make ensure the fonts-lato package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep fonts-lato *
You will get with fonts-lato package name, version, architecture and description in a table
